To be honest, I have been collecting music for so long that I have never felt the need for any over priced box sets. I guess there is some appeal for bonus tracks, outtakes, dvd’s, and booklets.

From that list you posted a link to:

Kiss - I was never a big fan. <shock>
Iron Maiden - I have the entire studio album discography.
Guns n Roses - I have the studio album discography.
Motörhead - Not a huge fan but I have almost the whole discography.
Alice In Chains - I have the discography.
Rush - again, the entire discography.
Whitesnake - the discography
Dio - The discography

This an end-of-year thread seeing that many of my colleagues, family and friends often do not know what to give as Xmas gifts. If you know a person who is not really into music much and/or has little time to collect records or CDs, box sets can put things straight

The article doesn't seem to say (or I missed it somewhere along the line ....?!) , but an extended box set of the 1984 album by The Honeydrippers (featuring Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Phil Collins and others) is due to be released
