Discography

Katatonia are in my top 5 bands of all time and with many reasons. They are well known today for their melodic metal with gloom and atmosphere accompanied by heavier riffs more of a Gothic Metal nature. Not talked about often enough are the first 2 albums with a much darker death driven Doom sound with Brave Murder Day even containing some vocals from Mikael of Opeth. After that album Jonas would adopt a clean singing only approach and they continued to get better. My favourite albums are easily Discouraged Ones and Viva Emptiness with Night Is The New Day very close third. I feel Discouraged Ones was their perfect transitional album into the sound they are known for even today. Katatonia are a must listen to band for any newbie to metal.

Will be seeing them in February next year. City Burials and Sky Void of Stars have managed to be top of my albums of the year lists.
